2020.09.21 17:46 Jouglet Eagle Scout Project - Advice needed
My son is working on his Eagle Scout Service Project. He is building a display table where a large model of an oceanographic vessel will be on top. It will be used to help educate children on how scientists explore the ocean located in Baja California, Mexico.
Here is our design we created in Sketchup together:
The model itself is not very heavy so we think this is a big overkill on the design but that's ok. The model is probably < 20 lbs. The display table will be wrapped in vinyl that has parts of the vessel and all the instruments on the vessel so the instructors can teach the children about it.
But we are new to this stuff. I was hoping to get some advice on how to build the display or if you have any recommended changes. Or just say "looks good" if we did a good job! :)
We need some advice on how to attached the frame together. Mainly the 2x4s. Do we need a special jig for that? Or just hammer nails on an angle? Do we use screws everywhere?
For the doors, we were just going to put 3 long 1/2" x 1/2" molding down and put pegboard in the middle with handles. Should be a quick easy way to create "doors".
We need to paint it as well. I guess we will cut everything, paint, assemble.
Again... rather new to all this. Thank you for your input!

2020.09.21 16:42 EngineerCharley Triple Monitor Build
First time posting, 2nd time building a PC.
Built my current PC 5 years ago (somehow haven't upgraded it in all this time!), and giving it away to a family member as I was planning on upgrading soon.
Would this build suit a triple monitor setup? (First time creating a build with more than one monitor so i'm quite wary)
Mainly just play WoW (Retail), and would like to play Ultra settings if possible. Also use AutoCAD / Sketchup quite a lot for Work/Uni.
There's a few 'compatibility notes' on PCPartPicker and unsure of how to proceed.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Any girl who'd be up for calls, chats, exchanging pictures of what we are currently doing, vent out to each other or just talk? Nowadays is so much stress but with my velvet voice I would help you to relax haha About me: I'm 20, living in Belarus 🇧🇾. Most of my time I'm completely alone, sadly. From 2020 not a student 😊 Working as car mechanic and thinking about to change my profession to 3d modeling. I'm already learning programs like 3ds max, sketchup, 360fusion. I'm into buddhism, that's why I tattooed Buddha on my chest. Yea, I like tattoos! Trying to stay calm, but it's hard when you got affective disorder. I'm 175cm height with shaved head, athletic body with sweet smile, trust me!:) I also like nature, music, science, art, reading books, watching cartoons and films. Playing games like CSGO, but for you I can try something new!:D Please, be nice to me and I'm comfy with any ages, so don't be shy! Hmu

2020.09.21 10:05 Kanyid Building gaming/rendering pc
This is my first time trying to build a pc, and I need it for gaming and rendering (vray,sketchup,cinema4D...) and my budget is around 2000$ and I would love to have an RTX3080 in it if it’s a good option. And is building a pc really easy since it’s my first time?

| Hello! |
I've been enjoying MCC on PC lately and just getting back into Halo in general and I find myself missing the heydays of my old halo.bungie.org community so I figured I'd try to be active here and thought I'd share some of the stuff I've worked on over the years, like bringing the legendary wall trophy to life!
Here are some examples I'm proud of
(All of these are painted by me except the upper right one)
Since I was a kid I always wanted one of these in real life. When I got out of college I started getting into cosplay and got active on 405th Halo costuming community and started to learn stuff like molding and casting. This was the first thing I set out to make.
The skull was sculpted and the shield\sword I designed myself in sketchup & CorelDraw and then cut out on acrylic on a laser cutter.
I've been working on them since 2014, making iterative changes as I go. The kits are big. They are about 2 feet tall, 29 inches diagonal. They are heavy bois and weigh about 10lbs when hung on the wall.
My most proud moment was being able to contribute one to 343's Halo museum! I was there for PAX in 2016 for a community meetup and it was just the coolest thing. Since then I've improved on the design and I hope to replace my old V1 kit there with a better one since my skills have improved.
I find a lot of joy in the process of mold\casting\painting. Here is a shot from a couple months ago where I was testing out different painting styles. I have not had much else to do thanks to Covid-19 so working on these has been a good distraction.
makin' copies at my local makerspace
Here is one I just did recently within the last week:
Here is one where I tried out yellowing the teeth, and adding growth lines.
No banana for scale, only green chair
Even though I made one for me, I'm still not done with them lol. I still keep coming back to this project and making tweaks or trying something new out. I've sold a few here and there to folks and traded for other cosplay stuff. It's a fun hobby. I may share more pictures as I make more and I'll try to post here too!
Thanks for looking, I hope you like them!

2020.09.20 05:53 stephenmr24 Please help me build a cheap, but more importantly, capable computer for my friend
I am trying to build a computer for a friend of mine, pc partpicker list below:
They are looking to be able to play minecraft (and hopefully other games in the future?) and run various architectural programs; sketchup, revit, and rendering on Vray and maxwell.
I think this list is capable, but i am not knowledgeable and just built my first PC myself. I am looking to make this cheaper, and obviously will shop used parts as much as I can, reliably.
I think many of the parts here could be found used for cheaper, but i'm not sure if I could reliably downgrade anything to save money while keeping 1TB memory, 16g RAM and keeping the system fast enough to last for a few years.

2020.09.19 22:48 Newman1651 Rotating parts of an object.
Is there any way to rotate parts of an object rather than the whole thing?
I have this model of a battleship and I've seen pictures where the turrets are rotated. any of rotating certains of the model?
